Community Update: Heidelberg Rock Quarry Issues
Date: May 27, 2025
Dear Neighbors,
As of May 22, 2025, we have not received any formal response from the Mayor or County Commissioners regarding our repeated concerns about the ongoing blasting and property damage linked to the Heidelberg Materials rock quarry.
In light of the lack of local action, we have taken steps to escalate our concerns to state and federal authorities. Formal complaints have been submitted to the Georgia Insurance Commissioner and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). We are actively engaged in conversations with both agencies, who have acknowledged our concerns and are working with us to seek a resolution.
Our community continues to experience structural damage to homes, emotional distress, and a lack of transparency from the parties responsible. We are committed to holding them accountable and ensuring the long-term safety and well-being of our neighborhood.
We thank all residents who have documented damages, participated in meetings, and helped advocate for change. Your voices are being heard, and your efforts are making a difference.
We will continue to keep you updated as developments occur. Please stay connected, and don’t hesitate to reach out if you have additional concerns or would like to get more involved.
In solidarity,
Dr. Cshanyse Allen, DNP, MSN, RN

Letters to our Mayor and Commissioners
For the sake of full transparency, we have repeatedly sent letters to the mayor and commissioners—yet we receive no response. Moving forward, we will publicly share every letter we send, both here and on our website. Perhaps other neighborhoods are being heard and getting what they ask for, while we continue to be ignored.
When we write letters and speak at the podium “downtown,” we are dismissed as “difficult,” “hard to work with,” and other demeaning labels. But the reality is, we are tax-paying citizens who deserve the same rights and respect as those “across the river.”
A new day is here.
Signed,
Unbought and Unbossed
